My
decision to become a real estate professional
grew out of my very positive experience
as a buyer. My husband and I were immensely
pleased with the service that Donna Evers
provided as our agent when we bought our
house in 1984, and to this day we are thrilled
with the home and community we have as a
result. Since joining Evers & Co. in 1987,
it has been my mission to deliver equally
wonderful service and results to the buyers
I represent.
The buyers I work
with are a diverse group with varying real
estate needs. I represent young, first-time
buyers; suburban families; high-end buyers,
and people who are downsizing. Having worked
closely since 2000 with developer and architect
Marc Reshefsky and Cathedral Investments,
I also have extensive experience with new
construction.
Here
are the key steps I take to ensure the successful
purchase of your home:
- Creating a "wish
list" of all the home and neighborhood
features that are important to you.
- Previewing properties
for you so that you can focus on the ones
that most closely meet your needs.
- Emailing daily
updates of houses you may like from the
MRIS (Metropolitan Regional Information
System), a multiple-listing service that
covers the entire Washington metro area.
- Lining up financing:
I can put you in touch with numerous lenders
who will help you understand your financing
options and provide you with loan approval.
- Writing a contract:
Through years of experience, I know how
to write contracts that "win."
- Presenting the
contract: I'll advise you at every turn
until a contract is ratified and a written
agreement is in hand.
- Contingencies
and the escrow period: I'll provide names
of inspectors and settlement attorneys
and also accompany you to your inspection
and advise you on any inspection issues.
- Settlement: I
know that this final step, when the deed
and money change hands, is potentially
the most nerve-wracking. As with every
other step, I'll be there to make sure
it all gets done correctly and smoothly.
- After the sale
- I'm always there for follow-up. If you
need the names of any contractors and
community resources, I'm just a phone
call away.
I pride myself
on being able make buyers comfortable as
they go through what is often a daunting
process. How do I do that? By listening
well and being patient. By advising you
on when a particular house is right for
you-or not. By operating within your time
frame and preferences. By working closely
and personally with you at each stage of
the process. By sharing my extensive familiarity
with the neighborhoods and houses in Upper
Northwest D.C., Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Rockville
and Potomac. By having a thorough knowledge
all the "nuts and bolts" aspects of buying
a house.
As an agent with Evers & Co., I am also
able to draw on the firm's resources for
buyers. Evers & Co. has a complete, up-to-date
list of lenders, title attorneys, building
inspectors, painters, contractors and others,
so I can supplement my own list for buyers
if necessary. A resource that is perhaps
even more important is my colleagues at
Evers & Co.: They are not only knowledgeable
and experienced, but also collegial and
always ready to share their information
and insights about houses, neighborhoods
and the market in general.
To provide the best possible service, I
do ask a couple of things of you as a buyer.
They both have to do with communication.
One: Talk to me. Tell me what you're looking
for, what you like and don't like. Tell
me if you change your mind about something.
Two: Ask questions. Ask about neighborhoods,
about the features of a house, about what
to expect at any point in the process. Remember
that the only bad question is the one you
don't ask.
I like to think that I form a team with
the buyers I represent, that we join together
to explore many excellent options and reach
a wonderful result.
